A mom fatally shot her husband & 2 children in triple murder-suicide, police say
Investigators identified the four family members as Emily Long, 34, Ryan Long, 48, son Parker Long, 8, and daughter Ryan Long, 6. A third child, a toddler, was found alive and uninjured inside the home in Madbury, a small town about 15 miles from Portsmouth.
Ryan Long, who worked as a school psychologist, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Emily Long died from a single gunshot wound to the head, the AG said.
Autopsies of both children showed the boy and girl died from single gunshot wounds to the head, according to Attorney General John Formella.
Police found the family around 8:21 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call from the Moharimet Drive home, according to officials.
In recent videos posted to a now-private TikTok account, Emily Long spoke candidly about her husband’s treatment for the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma, including his seizures, increased irritability, and struggle to find the right regimen of medications.
While a motive remains unclear, the family’s matriarch — who worked as director of operations at the restaurant chain Wing-Itz, according to her LinkedIn — often posted on social media about her struggles and despair as she coped with her husband’s terminal cancer diagnosis.
