Shavonta M. Wharton 23, has been charged with 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action after a fatal shooting that left the mother of his 3 children Shy’Annya Gillespie 23, deceased.
According to documents obtained on February 20th around 8:00 a.m. police were called to the 9600 block of Cedar Glen Drive, which is located at the Glenfield Apartments in Overland Mo.
Shy’ Annya was reportedly shot 1 time in the chest and was transported to an area hospital where she later died.
Wharton turned himself in to police two days later on February 22nd.
Although it remains unclear of what sparked this shooting Ms.Shanklin, Shy’Annya mother, stated “he took my daughter’s and unborn grandson life because she didn’t want him anymore!”
She also shared that Shy’Annya was attending parenting classes and that her daughter got her some help and was on the right path.
Shavonta M. Wharton bond is set at 1 million dollars.
Opinion: With both parents out of the picture, these children will need a village!
Often times we hear stories similar, but no one ever talks about the physiological damage and trauma that children grow into without their mother and father from tragic situations.
