A jury found a Chouteau man guilty of murder and recommends life in prison.
The jury found Robert Kraft guilty of stabbing Justin Johnson through the heart, killing him almost instantly. (pictured below in the cowboy hat)
One of Justin’s family members testified Justin always tried to protect weaker people and prosecutors say in this case, Justin was standing up for a woman who was dating Kraft.
They say Kraft left the scene and tried to remove blood from some of the rings he was wearing but one of his rings had fallen off at the crime scene, and his pants were still covered with Johnson’s blood when investigators collected them as evidence.
They say Kraft claimed self-defense, but an eyewitness said Kraft started a fight with Justin on June 29th, 2018.
A witness testified after stabbing Justin, Kraft told the witness, “you figure it out.”
Kraft has previous felony convictions for assault and battery with a deadly weapon and running from police.
He’s been in the Rogers county jail since the 2018 murder.
