A woman was arrested after she identified herself in a social media post from a sheriff’s office that was searching for a credit card thief.

Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office were contacted on August 9 by a woman who said she had accidentally left her credit card at a nail salon that she visited three days prior, Palm Nails, according to a press release. When she realized her card was missing, the victim checked her card activity and discovered 10 fraudulent charges made between August 6 and August 9, adding up to over $500.

The only lead investigators found was surveillance video from multiple stores where the fraudulent purchases occurred that showed “a white female who had long dark hair and was wearing a camouflage jacket,” the release said. The images were posted online on September 23 by the sheriff’s office in an attempt to identify the suspect.

Hours later, a woman reportedly contacted authorities to say that she was the person in the pictures and that she wanted to speak with the investigators working on the case.

Detectives met with the woman, identified as 19-year-old Brynn Gifford, and she claimed that she had not done anything wrong. When she was shown additional security camera images and video, including evidence that she had used the stolen credit card at Walmart, “she acknowledged it was her in the photographs,” authorities said.

Investigators also reportedly learned that Gifford was a receptionist at Palm Nails during the time of the theft.
