A DUI driver is accused of killing a motorcyclist in Gilbert on Monday afternoon. Just after 1:30 p.m., Gilbert police and firefighters were called out to the collision involving the motorcyclist and a driver near Williams Field Road and Val Vista Drive.
Emergency crews arrived and rushed 23-year-old Christopher Bartlett to the hospital, where he later died.
Investigators say Bartlett was riding his motorcycle down Williams Field Road when he was hit by a car driven by 49-year-old Lucinda Begay who was making a left turn. She was arrested and processed for DUI. The charges Begay is facing have not been released.
Williams Field Road was closed as police investigated, but reopened just before 6:30 p.m. An investigation is ongoing.
