A couple was arrested after their 18-month-old daughter was diagnosed with severe malnutrition.

The suspects, 22-year-old Ryan Klocke and 25-year-old Desaree Chambers, have been charged with child neglect creating risk of death or serious bodily injury, according to the Doddridge County Sheriff’s Department.

Details in the court document are limited. However, deputies said Klocke and Chambers took their 18-month-old daughter to WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s in Morgantown, West Virginia. Upon being evaluated by medical staff, she was diagnosed with “non-organic failure to thrive and severe protein calorie malnutrition.”

The case was then reported to CPS, and the couple was arrested.

Klocke and Chambers are both currently in the North Central Regional Jail with no bond set at this time.
