Phoenix police release video of suspect firing shots through garage door.
The incident happened in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and Acoma Drive, which is north of Thunderbird Road. Officers were responding after someone called 911 about the suspect.
The officers were outside the home, trying to make contact with the man through the closed garage door, when he began firing his weapon toward the officers.
On the bodycam video, you can hear more than a dozen gunshots.”Shots fired! Shots fired!” you can hear one of the officers yell as they scrambled for cover. No officers were hit in the hail of gunfire.
The bodycam video shows the officer ducking behind a truck, and you can hear him saying “He did not strike any of us.”
The man then barricaded himself inside the house, and police began negotiating with him.
A tweet from the Phoenix Police Department at the time warned people to “Stay inside, away from the area.”Eventually, the man came out and was taken into custody.
