Florida College Student Arrested After Newborn Found Buried Behind Palm Coast Home
A 20-year-old Daytona State College student, Anne Mae Demegillo, told investigators she unexpectedly went into labor at her family’s home and delivered the baby in the bathroom.
The newborn was initially crying, but Demegillo left the infant in the toilet and later returned to find the baby unresponsive.
She placed the body in a duffel bag in her closet, then continued her daily routine, attended college classes, and performed in a theater event.
She buried the child in a shallow grave in the backyard later that night.
Demegillo reportedly sent messages about what happened via social media, prompting someone to alert authorities.
