DailyMail – Alisa Mathewson told DailyMail.com of her horror after she awoke from a nap with two of her children to find Trevor Summers, 47, in her Valrico home.
Mom who was raped and kidnapped by her estranged husband after he tricked their daughter into helping facilitate the attack has spoken of her relief after he was jailed for life. Summers was able to carry out the sick abuse in March 2017 after convincing his daughter to leave a window open which allowed him to sneak into the property where he found Mathewson with two of their children.
He also convinced the then-14-year-old girl to drive the other siblings to his home so he could strike.Â
‘I’ll never forget waking up and seeing him towering over me,’ she said.
Once inside, Summers pinned the mom-of-five down and raped her whilst shoving a pillow in her face until she lost consciousness.
He then tied her wrists and ankles using scarves before putting a sock in her mouth and wrapping her entire body in nylon rope, something she says ‘dehumanized me in a way I’ll never forget’.
Holding her hostage in her house, the next day, Mathewson, 45, was forced into her car while hogtied – as Summers drove through several counties in Florida.
‘I thought I was going to die when he was holding me hostage,’ Mathewson said.
While parked up in a supermarket in Manatee County, Alisa tried to make her escape but Trevor dragged her back into the vehicle – catching the attention of a supermarket worker who phoned the police.
After fleeing to a nearby field to hide from police and dragging Mathewson with him, Summers tried to strangle her with a rope.
Taking an hour-long drive with Mathewson, Trevor hid in a field from the police – where he slit his throat claiming, ‘this is what love is’.
When he noticed an unmarked police car, Summers penned a suicide note telling their children they ‘would be watching from heaven’ and slit his throat with a razor- despite bleeding heavily, the cut was superficial.
Police cars surrounded the dark blue SUV the couple were in and Mathewson was rescued, while Summers was arrested.
Pleading not guilty to 11 charges – kidnapping, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of sexual battery, four counts of child neglect, grand theft auto and violating a restraining order – Summers represented himself in Circuit Court, Hillsborough County, Florida, after firing his legal team.
During his questioning, Trevor asked: ‘So you’re calling it rape?’
‘Being in court with him was horrendous and three of our children had to testify,’ Mathewson, an insurance agent, from Tampa, Florida, said.
‘It’s the last place you want your children in and it traumatized them hearing everything their father had done.
‘He represented himself so he could grill me on the stand, I couldn’t breathe when he talked.’
During the week-long trial at Circuit Court, Hillsborough County, Summers claimed ‘sex doesn’t mean that much’ to his ex-wife.
‘For a long time, I’d get triggered if I saw a man that looked like him and nightmare flashbacks would mean I’d wake up screaming,’ Mathewson said.
