KTIV – There have been reports of five deaths involving infants 1 to 3 months when the swing was used for sleeping.
The Fisher-Price Snuga Swings are being recalled due to a suffocation hazard from the headrest and body support insert on the seat pad, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Anyone with the swing is advised to remove the headrest and body support insert from the seat pad by cutting the tether before using it again.
Fisher-Price will provide a $25 refund to consumers who remove and destroy the headrest and body support insert. Instructions can be found at www.service.mattel.com.
According to the CPSC, the babies were not buckled in and bedding materials were added to the swing in most of those deaths.
The Snuga Swings were sold for about $160 at Amazon, Toys R Us, Walmart/Sam’s Club, and Target nationwide from October 2010 through January 2024.
Parents and caregivers are reminded to never use any inclined seated products, such as swings, gliders, soothers, and rockers, for infant sleep and should not leave infants in these products unsupervised, unrestrained, or with bedding material due to the risk of suffocation.
