Sushi Recall Sparks Potential Life-Threatening Allergy Warning
Arecall of grocery store sushi has been launched over concerns that undisclosed ingredients could cause life-threatening allergies.
On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shared an announcement concerning the recall from the Geisslers Supermarket regional chain, which operates seven locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Multiple products that were produced for the chain by EZ Noble Sushi and sold this week could contain milk, wheat and eggs—all of which were not listed on the packaging but could cause the potentially deadly condition anaphylaxis for those with allergies.
“Geisslers Supermarket Inc. of East Windsor CT has issued a recall of all Sushi products produced by EZnoble Sushi for Geisslers Supermarket Inc. produced or purchased on 3/26/2024 and 3/27/2024, with a sell by date of 3/27/2024 and 3/28/2024,” the recall announcement states.
“Product is packaged in clear plastic packages with a Geisslers Supermarket Inc. label affixed to the top of the package,” it continues. “Type of sushi roll is listed below the Geisslers Supermarket Inc. emblem, and the UPC code is located on the bottom of the label, along with store location.”
