(Fayetteville, NC) – Members of the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and arrested the suspects responsible for the shooting death of Lorenzo McLaughlin that occurred on July 29, 2023 along Stanberry Street at Primrose Drive.
Devonte Tyrell McClain (Black male, 20 years old) of Fayetteville, and his brother, Adriane McClain (Black male, 18 years old) of Fayetteville, were arrested and charged in the shooting death of Lorenzo McLaughlin.
The preliminary investigation revealed Lorenzo McLaughlin, Devonte and Adriane McClain knew each other.
After communication through social media between Lorenzo McLaughlin, Devonte and Adriane McClain, the brothers drove to McLaughlin’s location. They fired shots at McLaughlin while he was walking in the neighborhood.
McLaughlin sustained a gunshot wound during the shooting.
Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel transported McLaughlin to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Devonte Tyrell McClain was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Conspiracy. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
Adriane McClain was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Conspiracy. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
