Missouri Man Arrested After 88-Year-Old Woman’s Remains Found In Pond
A Missouri man was arrested and charged with murder on Friday in connection to the death of 88-year-old Betty Hayes who went missing in December 2021.
The arrest of 65-year-old Lyle W. Miller comes after investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of a rural Monroe County pond in connection with the investigation into the 2021 disappearance of Hayes.
Around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, members of the MSHP’s dive team recovered human remains from the pond.
An autopsy of the remains will be performed at a later date. Several hours later at 8:10 p.m., investigators arrested Miller for the murder of Haynes.
The Monroe County Prosecutor has formally charged Miller with second degree murder, and he is being held in jail without bond.
