Police arrest two people from AR after a 2 year old little girl was found dead at a Tulsa hotel.
Police say Torrez Smith and Rachael Alexander had been caring for the 2 year old and her 3 year old sister since June 19th, because their mother, a relative, had recently given birth.
Police say Smith and Alexander arrived in Tulsa on Tuesday night to visit friends.
On Wednesday night, surveillance video at the hotel shows they pulled into the lot around 8:30 PM and Smith got out with the 2 year old who was limp and unconscious.
Video shows he placed on her on the trunk of the car and attempted CPR, then covered the child with a towel and put her in the passenger seat, then got her out and carried her into the hotel.
Alexander followed behind, carrying the 3 year old.
Police say the couple called 911 about 25 minutes later.
First responders could not revive the girl and she was pronounced dead.
Police say Alexander admitted she spanked the 2 year old with a belt on the butt and investigators say they saw those marks, but, also saw unexplained injuries to the girl’s head and body.
Police say the 3 year old sister was interviewed and said Alexander gave the victim a “scratch on the head, leg and butt with a switch” for saying a cuss word.
The sister told police “there was red everywhere.”
Police say Alexander has a 2020 conviction in AR for endangering the welfare of a minor, plus several outstanding warrants.
They say she initially lied and gave her sister’s name to police, but right before she was fingerprinted at the jail, gave her real name.
Police say Smith has a conviction in Arkansas in 2012 for robbery.
