Yonkers police arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal hit and run that occurred in Yonkers on Friday.
Authorities say the crash happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Executive Boulevard just west of Nepperhan Avenue near the Consumer Reports building.
Police say 78-year-old Yonkers resident Azhar Jamil was crossing Executive Boulevard when he was hit by the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee who then fled the scene.
Detectives say they located the rental vehicle 28 hours after the incident and identified the driver as 24-year-old Yonkers resident Joseph Dimitri Delgado.
Delgado was placed into custody on Saturday after being located at an undisclosed hotel in the Village of Elmsford, according to authorities.
Authorities say he is unlicensed, and his driving privileges had been suspended due to previous unspecified incidents.
Delgado now faces a felony charge for leaving the scene of the accident. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
