Thirty-three people have been shot, seven fatally, in shootings across Chicago over the weekend.
A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday evening in Chatham on the South Side.About 8:15 p.m., he was near the sidewalk in the 500 block of East 79th Street, when he was approached by a person who pulled out a gun and fired shots.
He was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A 17-year-old was killed and a 15-year-old was seriously hurt, CPD said. Chicago police said about 1:15 a.m. in the 6800-block of South Peoria Street, the boys were in a home’s backyard when gunfire erupted.
Chicago police investigate a shooting outside Mount Sinai Hospital on Ogden and South Fairfield.
At least three windows were broken, but fortunately, no one inside or outside the hospital was hurt.
Police said a man was seen standing outside Saturday afternoon when he fired at the hospital several times before taking off.
Police are still looking for that man.
A 23-year-old man was shot Saturday afternoon in Lake View on the North Side.
He was inside a vehicle in the 3200 block of North Lake Shore Drive, when he heard shots and felt a pain.
He was struck in the foot and driven to Weiss Hospital, where he is in good condition, Chicago police are investigating.
A second, whose age is not known, was grazed by a bullet on his head, and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he is in good condition.
A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in Austin on the West Side.
A teen was walking on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of West Augusta Boulevard when two males approached him and fired shots, striking him in the shoulder and back.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
Two men were wounded, one critically, in a shooting Saturday morning in Humboldt Park.
The men were standing on a sidewalk about 7:10 a.m. in the 800 block of North Drake Avenue when a male exited a dark color sedan and opened fire in their direction, Chicago police said.
One man, 50, was struck multiple times in the upper thigh and transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The second man, 25, was also struck in the thigh and taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.
The shooter returned to the sedan after the attack and fled the scene, according to police.

They were on the sidewalk about 9:10 p.m. in the 700-block of East 79th Street when someone opened fire from a white SUV, Chicago police said.
A 33-year-old was struck in the chest and hand, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
The other man, 20, was taken to the same hospital in fair condition with a gunshot wound to his hand, police said.
