Man Charged With Murder After 22-Year-Old Woman He Stalked Was Found Stabbed To Death
A Jefferson City man has been charged with first-degree murder and taken into custody after a woman was stabbed to death at 301 W. Ashley Street on Monday evening.
He was additionally charged with armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution, and first-degree stalking.
The Jefferson City Police Department is investigating the incident involving Sergio Sayles, 36, and 22-year-old Jasmine King just before 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.
A press release states that Sayles and the victim were in an on-and-off intimate relationship and shared a toddler together.
King’s body was found in her bedroom, covered in blood, with stab wounds in her head, face, torso, neck, chest, and back.
In the past two years, Sayles has also been charged with fourth-degree domestic assault, first-degree harassment, and first-degree stalking involving the same female victim.
He was put on pretrial release on September 10, 2021, as a condition that he is not to contact the victim or the victim’s family, and he has a trial scheduled for the stalking charge on July 27, 2023.
