Nearly 200 members of the Catholic clergy and administrators were outed as sexual predators after a new 463-page report exposed years of abuse and cover-up attempts.
Investigators sifted through hundreds of thousands of documents all the way back to the 1940s to uncover sexual abuse allegations against Catholic institutions in Baltimore.
Maryland Attorney General Anthony G Brown called the release of the report a “day of reckoning” for all those involved.
Brown said the documents showed clear evidence of the “pervasive, pernicious and persistent abuse” members of the Archdiocese of Baltimore engaged in for over 80- years.
The report names every person accused to have abused parish members, where they were assigned throughout their careers and describes the exact allegations made against them in stomach-churning detail.
