RawNews1st – Former Boone County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dallas Wingate is charged with killing his own police dog, a felony in Iowa.
Wingate left his police dog “Bear” in a department truck for 22 hours in Sept, according to search warrant. He resigned on Sept. 8.
Boone County Sheriff tells me Wingate was told to turn himself in today by Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
He was taken to the Story County jail to avoid a conflict of interest, he worked in Boone County for 15 years.
