A 21-year-old man is in serious condition Sunday and another is in custody after an isolated shooting at Dulles Town Center mall in Sterling, according to Loudoun County authorities.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was called to the mall property for a report of a shooting minutes before noon, said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.
Upon their arrival, deputies encountered a shooting victim walking by the Cheesecake Factory exit and immediately called fire and rescue for treatment.
Deputies learned the shooter, whom they identified as 31-year-old Alan Colie, was still inside the mall near the food court.
Authorities ran upstairs, where they found Colie seated on the floor with his gun nearby.
Colie didn’t try to run or fight with responding deputies, officials said. He was transported to the sheriff’s office.
The victim was transported to the Reston Trauma Center in serious condition with a wound to his abdomen, officials said. No other details on his condition were immediately available.
Three other people were evaluated at the scene for possible injuries, according to Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System Chief Keith Johnson.
