Florida – Man Charged With Murder After Stabbing Wife To Death In Front Of Toddler
― In a boardinghouse with multiple families, a man stabbed his wife in front of their young daughter Monday evening, Martin County sheriff’s Chief Deputy John Budensiek said.
The woman died from her wounds en route to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.
Pedro Mateo-Andres, 39, of Indiantown, was arrested at the residence and faces a charge of first-degree murder.
Deputies arrived at the house in the 14000 block of Southwest Cherokee Drive around 5 p.m. to find Mateo-Andres on top of a woman who had multiple stab wounds, Budensiek said.
The chief deputy said Mateo-Andres told investigators he stabbed his wife because he believed she was cheating on him and planning to leave him.
The couple’s daughter, who is about 3 or 4 years old, witnessed the stabbing, Budensiek said.
She was taken to the Sheriff’s Office briefly so the Florida Department of Children and Families could find a place for her to stay.
