Charges have been issued against two brothers who fatally shot 35-year-old Rickey Lathan after he got into a verbal altercation with their grandfather over some fireworks.
Police say that Devin Griffin-Curry, 17, and Davon Griffin-Curry, 18, went to the 2500 block of Semple Ave. and shot Lathan then went back home as if nothing ever happened.
Officers responded to a call for a “Shooting” and located the victim laying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds.
EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The Juvenile Courts certified 17-year-old Devin Griffin-Curry as an adult. He was 16 years old at the time of the incident.
He was taken to the Justice Center where he was booked for Murder 1st and Armed Criminal Action, and charges were issued by the Circuit Attorney’s Office.
18-year-old Davon Griffin-Curry was also charged with Murder 1st and Armed Criminal Action by the CAO.
