David Farmer, 61, a teacher at Crystal Springs Middle School, is charged with five counts of molestation, according to Jeremy Thornton, an investigator with the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Byron Swilley said the allegations, which were reported to law enforcement by school staff, involve a student. The sheriff was guarded with details as to whether the alleged incidents happened on campus.
When asked if the case involved Farmer’s role as a teacher, Swilley said yes.
Swilley said Farmer, who was arrested on Monday, has been a teacher for 16 years.
The Copiah County School District is on spring break, so school officials have yet to release a comment.
