ROCKFORD — It was another a violent weekend in Rockford as one person was murdered and five others were shot.
The first shooting happened Thursday night in the 3100 block of Gladstone. Police say a 17-year-old boy was found on the scene suffering from two gunshot wounds. The boy was a passenger in the vehicle when an unknown man walked into the street and fired at the vehicle, according to police.
The second shooting happened hours later. Around 3 a.m., police responded to a hospital for a walk-in shooting victim. Police say the 32-year-oldvictim was uncooperative and had an outstanding warrant in Wisconsin. Police did not say what the warrant was for.
The third shooting happened around 1 a.m. Saturday in the area of the 1600 block of S. 5th St. Officers responded to a shots fired call and found a 36-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. The shooting may have been the result of a possible argument, according to police.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a hospital again for a walk-in shooting victim. Police say the 27-year-old victim was shot in both legs and was uncooperative with officers.
The 5th shooting happened Sunday night around 11:30 in the 700 block of Napoleon St. A 23-year-old man was shot in the arm, police say. Officers later discovered the victim had two warrants out for his arrest. The man was taken into custody after being treated at the hospital for his injuries sustained in the shooting.
About 2 hours later, police responded to the area Lexington Ave. and Hudson St. for a deadly shooting. Police say a 29-year-old man was shot and taken to the hospital where he later died from the injuries sustained in the shooting.
None of the injuries sustained in the first five shootings are considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
