RawNews1st – At approximately 1:52 am, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop of a sedan in the 46300 block of Interstate Highway 10, Winnie, Texas, belonging to a wanted subject, identified as Ortego, Michael Trevor, 35 years of age from Winnie, Texas.
During the traffic stop, deputies discovered Ortego was staying at a nearby hotel.
The deputies made contact with Ortego at his hotel room, where, he was placed under arrest for his Chambers County warrants.
The warrants were for the offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance – PG 1 – 4g<200g – 2nd Degree Felony and Bond Forfeiture-Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – PG 1 – 4g<200g – 1st Degree Felony.
While placing Ortego under arrest for the above-mentioned warrants, an additional 2.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located within his possession.
Ortego also claimed ownership of a surplus of narcotics within his vehicle. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office K9 Stark was deployed on the vehicle and displayed a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 491 grams of suspected codeine, 8.4 grams of suspected hydrocodone/acetaminophen, and 49.5 grams of suspected lorazepam.
Ortego was placed under arrest and transported to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Ortego was subsequently charged for the following offenses with bonds totaling $55,000.00:
· Possession of a Controlled Substance – PG 1 – >400 Grams, 1st Degree Felony (codeine)
· Possession of a Controlled Substance – PG1 – 1<4 Grams, 3rd Degree Felony (methamphetamine)
· Possession of a Controlled Substance – PG 3 – 28<200 Grams, 3rd Degree Felony (lorazepam)
· Possession of a Controlled Substance – PG 3 – <28 Grams, Misdemeanor A (hydrocodone/acetaminophen)
