RawNews1st – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible network intrusion from a local citizen.
After the initial investigation began, it was discovered that an unknown suspect was extorting a young female victim by leading her to believe her electronic devices/cloud accounts had been compromised.
The suspect claimed to have nude photographs of the victim and stated he would release them if additional photographs were not provided.
As the investigation continued, multiple victims were located and interviewed; and it was further discovered that the suspect had met with at least one female victim and coerced her into sexual acts so that her photos would not be released.
At this point, Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Units joined the investigation.
During the investigation, detectives began engaging with the suspect and a plan was devised for the suspect to meet with who he believed to be a minor; at which point he was taken into custody by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Simultaneous to the suspect being taken into custody, the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on the suspect’s residence.
The suspect in this case was identified as Jose Manuel Pinto Florez (White Male, 61 years old).
He was booked into the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on:
Two counts of ‘Sexual Battery’, two counts of ‘Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minor’, five counts of ‘Extortion’, two counts of ‘Traveling to Meet a Minor to do Unlawful Acts’, and three counts of ‘Soliciting a Child via Computer’.
This case was a collaborative effort amongst the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S.

Secret Service North Florida Cyber Crime Task Force and serves as a great example of multiple agencies working in conjunction to ensure these types of cases are investigated thoroughly and the suspect, who is targeting minors, is removed from the community.
