BURLINGTON, NC— At approximately 8:00 pm, Burlington police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Maple Ave, in reference to reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located Christopher Shawn Bailey (Male, 31) lying inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Alamance County EMS responded to the scene and transported Bailey to a medical facility to receive treatment.
On July 6th, 2022, the Burlington Police Department arrested Millard Hanibal Levi Elswick, a 33-year-old male, of Burlington, in regard to this investigation.
Elswick was taken into custody in High Point, NC after collaboration with the Archdale, High Point, Thomasville Police Departments, and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Elswick has been charged with the following:
Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
Elswick is currently being held in the custody of the Guilford County Jail without bond.
