UPDATE
Philadelphia – One Firefighter is confirmed dead in the collapse.
An early morning fire in this building turned into a nightmare for the members of the Philadelphia Fire Department today.
A while after the fire was put out the building collapsed on at least 4 members and one other city employee inspecting the building.
Please join me in praying for these brave people who put their iives on the line daily without ever really thinking about this.
The fallen firefighter was not immediately identified, but Deputy Fire Commissioner Craig Murphy said he was a 27-year department veteran.
Four other firefighters and an inspector with the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections had been rescued from the rubble. Murphy said they were in stable condition at hospitals.
We wouldn’t do what we do if we worried about how it would end. We do it to serve!
