On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at approximately 6:45 pm, officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to 1001 Candlewood Drive in reference to 911 calls regarding a shooting outside the residence.
Upon arrival, officers located a 15 year old male victim shot in the foot.
The Victim was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Officers collected 6 shell casings from the crime scene.
On Friday, May 13, 2022, at 1:10 am, officers responded to the 300 block of S. Adkin Street in reference to reports of shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located Ricky Roach Jr. (23) suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower area back area.
The Victim was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Officers collected 10 shell casings from the crime scene.
On Friday, May 13, 2022, arrest warrants were obtained on Knolege Johnson, 18 and Jamir Davis, 18 for one count each of Attempted Murder.
The arrest warrants were in reference to the second shooting in this article. Around 4:40 pm on Friday, Officers located and apprehended the suspects on the 1000 block of Candlewood Drive.
During the arrest, officers located a concealed handgun on Johnson, who was also charged with Resist, obstruct and Delay and Carrying a Concealed firearm.
Both individuals were placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under secured bonds.
Both of these shootings are believed to be related. Investigators are still investigating the shooting on Candlewood Drive and anticipate arrest warrants are forthcoming.
Additional charges on additional suspects in the S. Adkin Street shooting are also pending.
