Baltic Barge Disaster Latest: Oil Leaking as Search Called Off
Rescue teams have called off their efforts after two barges collided in the Baltic Sea, capsizing one with two crew members on board, reportedly as the water is so cold there’s no chance of finding the pair alive now. (RIA Novosti)
Oil has started leaking from the damaged Danish-registered Karin Hoej vessel, which has a deadweight almost 10 times smaller than the British Scot Carrier with which it collided in thick fog at 3:30am local time Monday.
