The Tulsa Police Fugitive Squad got notified a murder suspect from Indiana could be in the Tulsa area and they arrested him yesterday.
Documents for Darwish Bowlds say he was wanted for a murder that happened in December of 2001 in Grant County, Indiana.
Documents say the victim was Pete Flowers who crashed his car, then detectives learned he’d been shot, through the back while driving and the bullet hit his aorta and lung.
They say witnesses saw a man running from the scene, who dropped his hat.
One witness identified Bowlds as the man seen running from the scene.
In 2004, police had a witness come forward who said Bowlds had called right after the murder and admitted to it.
In 2005, police got a warrant for Bowlds’ DNA and they say it matched the DNA found on the hat in the field, the suspect had dropped.
Bowlds is in the Tulsa County jail until he’ll be extradited back to Indiana to face the murder charge.
