CODE NAME CHRYSANTHEMUM: North Korean spy arrested for pressuring defectors to return
A female North Korean spy has been indicted for coercing regime defectors in the South to return ‘home’ to support Pyongyang’s political agenda, The Diplomat has reported.
According to South Korean media, the unnamed spy started working undercover in 2016 with the code name “Chrysanthemum,” then posing as a ‘defector’ in SK two years later.
She confessed to working with the North’s Ministry of State Security. The agent is scheduled for a hearing on November 23 to determine her sentence.
