Marysville Police are asking for your help to identify two suspects who burglarized a home in broad daylight and then terrorized a mom and three kids who had just returned home by ramming their SUV with their getaway vehicle.
The male suspect then used a hammer to smash out the windows of her SUV while her three young children were still inside the vehicle screaming and crying.
Detectives say the family’s home surveillance system caught the two burglars on Oct. 23 around noon. No one was home at the time. The female suspect knocks on the door and then returns to their car. The male suspect then gets out of the car and casually walks around the house before smashing through the back door.
The motion triggered the homeowner’s security system which alerted her on her cell phone.
She pulled up behind the suspects’ 2000s model Chrysler PT Cruiser. Home surveillance footage shows the woman and the man walking out of the home carrying stolen items and getting into their car.
“He started backing the car and hitting my car multiple times while I was trying to call 911,” said the victim who asked not to be identified for her safety.
According to detectives, the man got out of his car and approached the woman and her kids. He then pulled out a large hammer and started smashing the windows of the woman’s SUV over and over again. Her children, 6 and 11-year-old daughters and 2-year-old son, were crying.
“My kids were screaming… He tried to open my car and at that moment, I was really afraid. I couldn’t even move at that moment. I was thinking that he’s gonna hurt me or hurt my daughters,” the woman told FOX 13 News.
She was eventually able to back out and leave, but the entire family has been left traumatized and unable to sleep.
“Even their 2-year-old has been showing some signs of stress. He has a little hammer set… his dad does construction, so he likes to play on it. It used to be a playful act, she said, and now he’s walking around slamming it just the way the suspect did to their vehicle that day,” said Detective Joe Belleme with Marysville Police.
The suspect vehicle is described as a white 2000s model Chrysler PT Cruiser. “It actually looks like it’s been spray painted, rattle canned white. Looks like it’s probably a darker color,” said Det. Belleme.
The male suspect in the Seahawks hat is described as white, about 6 feet tall, and appears to be in his mid-30s. The woman is white, shorter than him and has hair that looks like it’s dyed an orange-reddish color. .
Police say they should be considered armed and dangerous. Along with the family’s valuables, they also stole a handgun.
“It’s not about what they took. Its about how they acted with my kids and my family.” said the mom.
If you recognize the suspects or know where to find the PT Cruiser, submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers through the P3 Tips app on your cell phone or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). There is a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
