Mercedes-Benz is looking to hire several hundred permanent positions before the end of 2021 at its auto production plant in Vance and electric battery plant in Bibb County.
This comes before the automaker plans to begin production on two electric vehicles next year and the batteries that power its vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz U.S. International currently employs 4,400 permanent MBUSI production employees. The company has spent more than $1 billion at the plant over the last five years as it prepares for electric vehicle production.
Mercedes is looking to attract workers with production experience, especially those in the auto industry, and less-experienced workers who have completed manufacturing training programs.
The company says team members hired as part of the program will be immediately eligible for all MBUSI benefit programs and a starting hourly pay rate of $20, rising to $25+ an hour after regular wage increases over four years, plus a shift premium.
Jobs are available immediately in assembly, the body and paint shops, as well as the battery plant. To qualify, applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, one to three years of manufacturing or industrial experience, and be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
