RawNews1st – In the shooting death of a 9-year-old boy who was killed while celebrating his grandmother’s birthday in Franklin Park over the weekend, a Melrose Park man has been charged with first-degree murder.
At a 70th birthday party for his grandmother, Ulysses Campos was playing with his cousins when shots were fired from a car driving down the alley. Two weeks before turning 10, Campos was struck in the chest, and he passed away.
Karina Cazares, 26, told the Sun-Times, “A few of my other cousins were there, and they’re all kids.” It is horrible, horrible.
They are now traumatized, and I obviously suffer from the same trauma.”
“We lost an our relative that we cherished and really focused on so profoundly, we actually do,” Cazares proceeded. ” We just hope we can end his life and get through this together as a family.
The shooting took place in the 2800 block of Elder Lane around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Four to six shots were fired by a passing vehicle, according to the police, who reported “disturbance” in the alley.
Campos was taken to Loyola College Clinical Center in Maywood, where he was articulated dead, police said.
