8-yr-old Jacari Brown has been identified by the Cook County M.E. as the boy shot & killed early this morning.
On August 15th, 2023, around 4:25am, Chicago Police responded to a call of a child shot on Flournoy & Albany, on the same block of CPD 11th District.
When they arrived, they’ve located Jacari inside a home with a Gsw to the chest. He was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
CPD says Jacari was inside a home with another boy around his age, unsure if he was a relative or not, but both boys found a loaded handgun and started playing with it, that’s when the gun went off 1 time striking Jacari in his chest.
Area 4 detectives are investigating this incident, but CPD says this shooting appears to be an accident.
No one is in custody as detectives are continuing to question the boy and the family.
