The suspect, identified by non-law enforcement sources as Michael Reese, was apprehended Saturday as he was fleeing the area where a missing woman was believed to be located, Willimantic police said.
Reese was arrested on unrelated charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and sixth-degree larceny and taken to the Willimantic Police Department where he was held on $5,000 bond over the weekend. He was additionally charged on Sunday with violation of probation.Â
Reese is on the state’s Sex Offender Registry for a 2007 first-degree sexual assault conviction. He was in compliance with the registry as of Oct. 12, according to the registry.Â
During his arraignment Monday in state Superior Court in Danielson, not a word was spoken about Reese being a suspect in a homicide.
Reese also didn’t attend the arraignment. Judge Kevin Shay said Reese’s medical team determined his mental health needs were so great that he could not safely be transported to court.Â
