The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Perry Lee Mixon. He was 62.
Birmingham police responded shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of 46th Street North on a report of a person shot, said police spokesman Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
Mixon was found unresponsive in a parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Fitzgerald said. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced Mixon dead at 9:02 p.m.

Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a shooting in Birmingham’s Kingston community.
