6-year-old boy was shot Sunday on the city’s Northwest Side: Chicago

Chicago – A 6-year-old boy was shot Sunday on the city’s Northwest Side of Chicago this morning.

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 1000 block North Hamlin Avenue in Humboldt Park, Chicago police said. The boy was shot in the finger, police said. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Chicago police continue to investigate.

It’s important to note that the City of Chicago’s violence reduction dashboard indicates a lag of about 48 hours for updates, meaning the data available now might not be entirely comprehensive for the entire weekend. However, it does reflect that gun violence remains a concern in the city. 

There were at least three fatal shootings reported on August 17, 2025, resulting in three deaths.
