Four of the five Chinese ballistic missiles that appeared to land in Japan’s exclusive economic zone are “believed to have flown over Taiwan’s main island”
Japan has lodged a diplomatic protest with China over the presumed missile landings in its EEZ, as Beijing holds large-scale military drills in the waters around Taiwan following US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island nation.
“Japan will make every effort to gather and analyze intelligence and maintain vigilance and surveillance,” the defense minister said.
Japanese Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Takeo Mori called Chinese Ambassador Kong Xuanyou to lodge a protest over the launches and urge an immediate halt to the exercises.
