A 49-year-old man fatally shot his ex-wife, then himself, in Geneva early Wednesday evening, according to police.
Following a 911 call, police were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Pebble Beach Court around 5:20 p.m.
Chad Dockery, of Hinsdale, called 911 to report the murder of his ex-wife, Amanda Dockery, 48, a resident of the home officers responded to, according to police. He also informed dispatchers that he was carrying a pistol.
When an officer arrived, he saw Chad inside a vehicle at the end of the home’s driveway, and as he approached, a gun was fired.
Chad was discovered inside the vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a 9mm pistol was recovered.
According to police, Amanda was discovered inside the house with two apparent gunshot wounds.
Amanda and Chad were both taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva and pronounced dead.
There were no other people inside the house at the time of the shooting.
The Geneva Police Department and members of the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are still investigating the shooting as more information is gathered.
