Rawnews1st – $47K stolen from credit union members in Winston-Salem over 6-year period; According to police:
On 8/1, Winston-Salem police started investigating at the request of the Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union on East Salem Avenue, located near Rams Dr. & Research Parkway.
Information was provided identifying a 28-year employee of the credit union, Barbara Sabrina Clinkscales-Stowe, 55, of Winston-Salem, as embezzling funds from members accounts while working in a fiduciary capacity as a Financial Services Representative.
It was determined Clinkscales-Stowe embezzled a total of $47,166.07 from various members accounts over a six-year period, from 2017 to 2022.
After consulting with the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office, 6 counts of felony embezzlement were filed against Clinkscales-Stowe. One count for each year collectively.
On 11/21, Clinkscales-Stowe turned herself into the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center and was given a $5K bond.
