Chicago – According to Chicago Police Department at least 44 people have been shot, eight fatally, since Friday evening across Chicago, police said.
About 8:38 p.m., he was standing outside in the 9400-block of South University Avenue when someone in a vehicle driving by fired gunshots, Chicago police said.
A 14-year-old boy was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting Sunday night in Hyde Park.
The 16-year-old was near a sidewalk about 4:05 p.m. in the 13100-block of South St. Lawrence Avenue when he was shot in the chest, Chicago police said.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Citywide, there has been a 16% decrease in total homicides this year compared to last year, with 396 homicides recorded so far in 2022 and 474 recorded over the same time period in 2021.
Compared to 2020, citywide homicide numbers are down 14%, though killings have risen 31% and 14% compared to 2019 and 2018, according to CPD statistics for the week ending Aug. 7.
In Chicago in Gurnee, Illinois, three people, including two teenagers, were injured in a Sunday night shooting at Six Flags Great America amusement park.
