36 million lbs. of fried rice, ramen, and dumpling products: Trader Joe’s
According to the recall alert, the expansion includes 16 products that were produced between Oct. 21, 2024, and Feb. 26, 2026, under brand names Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s. The products have best-by dates ranging from Feb. 28, 2026, through Aug. 19, 2027.
On Tuesday, March 3, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. was expanding its earlier recall of chicken fried rice products to include an additional 33.6 million pounds of various chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumpling products, for a combined total of 36.9 pounds of recalled food.
More than 36 million pounds of fried rice, ramen, and dumpling products sold nationwide at retailers including Kroger and Trader Joe’s are being recalled over a risk that they could be contaminated with glass, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The problem was discovered after consumer complaints. The USDA said an investigation found carrots, used as an ingredient in the recalled products, were likely the source of the glass.
So far, officials said no injuries have been reported. However, there is concern that some product may be in retailers’ or consumers’ freezers. The products should be thrown away or returned.
