The episode occurred around 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the Garfield Park area.
According to the police, a 30-year-old man was driving when he struck a male pedestrian with his vehicle.
According to police, the person who was hit pulled out a gun and fired, hitting the driver.
The 30-year-old person was taken to the emergency clinic, where he was articulated dead.
