3 people are in custody, accused of taking thousands and thousands of dollars from a 72 year old woman who had a stroke months ago.
Tulsa County investigators got a tip from Adult Protective Services, who got a tip from an Owasso bank about a huge number of cash withdrawals and cash app payments and unusual expenses for a woman of that age and illness.
The affidavit says the victim’s daughter, Melanie Crossman, was taking out the money and using it to pay the bills of her common law husband, Johnny Thompson, and sending nearly 100 cash app payments to her son Alex Thompson.
It says the victim’s money was also used to pay for trips to KC and Dallas and Worlds of Fun and for restaurants.
It says the three suspects don’t have jobs.
It says the victim would get around $20,000 worth of deposits into her account each month and cash withdrawals would take it down to mere hundreds.
It says the victim’s money was used to pay the electric bill, the gas bill and the water bill for three homes: the victim’s home, the daughter’s common-law husband’s home and another relative’s home.
It says the victim’s money was used to pay for Cox for the three households and Dish as well as numerous streaming services.
It says the daughter, Crossman, told investigators all the money was being used for the victim’s care, but, investigators say the expenditures don’t bear that out and the daughter was wearing $150 shoes at the time of the interview.
All three have been charged with the exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
