Three people are dead and another was seriously hurt after a freight train crashed into a car full of people near Gervais on Wednesday.

The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, south of Gervais, on Keene Road Northeast.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a 2002 Honda passenger car was traveling west on a farm access road, north of the 7100 block of Keene Road NE, when they failed to stop for a stop sign at the train tracks and was hit by the freight train.
