When officers arrived at 1:26 a.m. on Sunday, police found multiple victims. Five adult victims were discovered, three of them were transported to the hospital.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. One was inside the lounge, the other outside.
Police say one additional shooting victim died at the hospital. Another remains in critical condition.
Details about the circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately available from KCPD. It’s also unclear where precisely each victim was when they were shot.
A Kansas City area rapper who performs as ‘Nutty Still Gassin.’ is believed to have been at the bar for a performance Saturday night. He posted a Facebook live video from within Kylmax earlier in the night.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators gathered evidence and talked to potential witnesses at the scene Sunday. A small memorial with flowers and chalk writing featuring the victims’ names has popped up in the hours following the incident.
