27-year-old man is charged with killing a woman while crossing the street near Midtown

This 27-year-old man is charged with killing a woman while crossing the street near Midtown late Sunday night.

Houston police say the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on Pierce Street. Investigators say the driver was alledgedly speeding and showed signs of intoxication. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

They says she struck the woman & also hit several parked vehicles.

Police identified the driver as 27-year-old Enrique Acevedo Barocio, who officers say showed signs of intoxication at the scene. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Barocio was charged with intoxication manslaughter and taken into custody. The story on KHOU 11 News at 6.
