Mya Moore– is accused of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and other charges in the death of her brother, 25-year-old Marcus Moore.
She was in the Erie County Prison without bond Thursday following her arraignment Wednesday night by Erie 1st Ward District Judge Sue Mack.
Marcus Moore’s death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy Wednesday.
Officers found Marcus Moore unresponsive on the porch of the residence and observed a stab wound to his neck near his collarbone. He was taken to UPMC Hamot, where he was pronounced dead at 6:05 a.m.
Erie police took Mya Moore into custody from the scene. Investigators also recovered a knife at the scene, according to detectives.
A woman who lives at the East 28th Street residence told police that she was sleeping in the living room when she was alerted to a disturbance outside, investigators wrote in the affidavit of probable cause filed with Mya Moore’s criminal complaint. The woman said when she went to the front door and observed Marcus Moore, who fell to the floor of the porch.
Mya Moore is tentatively scheduled to appear in court for her preliminary hearing on Aug. 20.
Marcus Moore’s death is the eighth to be ruled as a homicide in Erie County and the fourth in the city of Erie so far this year.
